This purebred electric bowed instrument is handcrafted from traditional maple and ebony for powerful tone and articulate response. It features an ergonomically arched fingerboard and bridge; 34" scale; dot markers; the NS Polar pickup system; EMG magnetic pickups; versatile support system; and active balance, volume, bass, and treble controls. When bowed the CR5 is energized with a wonderfully expressive sound, combining a powerful bass resonance with brilliant harmonics. Its bold pizzicato voice ranges from the percussive punch of the acoustic upright to the smooth sustain of the fretless electric bass.Arched fingerboardThe Bass Cello has a highly arched fingerboard and bridge, similar to a cello, to optimize bow articulation. The high arch on the fingerboard fits the human hand, and combines with the round neck profile for a comfortable and natural feel.34" scaleThe 34" scale length of the Bass Cello is the same as the standard bass guitar and can be tuned in fourths as a bass (EADGC), making it immediately familiar to bass guitarists. The Bass Cello can also be tuned in fifths, for fingerings that are natural for the cellist.Dot markersDots for each semi-tone cascade across the fingerboard in a pattern that provides a clear visual fingering reference. The logical dot pattern is of critical value to the novice player, and an invaluable tool for the seasoned pro.Polar pickup systemThe multiple sensor NS Polar bridge pickup system has 2 operation modes: arco and pizzicato to optimize response according to playing style.EMG magnetic pickupsEMG low-impedance magnetic pickups have smooth response with lots of sweet midrange for essential electric bass sounds.Active controls2 balance controls allow unlimited mixing options for the magnetic and the dual mode Polar pickup systems. Onboard preamplification provides master volume, bass, and treble controls.NS Bass Cello stringsBased on traditional cello strings NS Bass Cello strings are light and responsive, with singing highs and a deep low register. In addition these ultra-smooth low-tension strings are effortless to play and minimize finger noise. They have a smooth pizzicato growl that can sound very much like an acoustic, yet deliver plenty of sustain and drive when you need it. Custom made by D'Addario they are also designed for bowing and respond much quicker to the bow than traditional bass strings, so expressive bow technique is easier to develop and maintain. THe CR5 can also accommodate traditional bass guitar strings.Interchangeable support systemsThe Boomerang strap system provides stable support at virtually any angle with full mobility for all bow and pizzicato styles of play. The tripod stand is comfortable for play standing or seated on a stool. The End Pin Stand is adjustable so that the instrument remains balanced without support from the left hand.Handcrafted maple and ebonyEach instrument is hand-made in the Czech Republic with aged maple and ebony to the highest st

The Adam Dutkiewicz Signature Fly opens Parker Guitars to a new genre of music. Adam "D" of Killswitch Engage required an EMG-81 active pickup in the bridge position and an EMG-85 active pickup in the neck position to provide the heavier tones needed for his instrument. Combined with the many innovative features of the Parker Fly and you have an instrument that sets a new standard for electric guitars used by players of heavy rock and metal. The Parker Fly Electric Guitar is light, fast, and amazingly versatile. Parker has spent 25 years correcting all of the things that are inherently flawed about traditionally-made electric guitars. A headstock with all unnecessary material removed has less weight and improved tone resonance. A carbon/glass/epoxy exoskeleton is actually baked into the neck wood for increased strength and stability for an electric guitar that will never loose its perfect intonation. The Fingerboard is made out of Carbon/glass/epoxy and is fitted with Stainless Steel frets that will never need to be replaced. This neck is totally consistent with no "dead spots" and is impervious to the effects of temperature and humidity. The Adam Dutkiewicz guitar's sculpted solid mahogany body is also highly resonant and weighs only 5 Lb. so you can stop going to your chiropractor. The Parker flat-spring vibrato system is also completely consistent and stable and has 3-modes

Fitted with 6 guitar strings, 13 sympathetic drone strings, and a buzzing Gotoh bridge, its guitar-like scale and neck couple familiar feel with the exotic tone of the traditional Indian instrument. All 3 pickups (including the sympathetic-string pickup) have independent tone and volume controls. A great axe for re-creating those psychedelic chestnuts of the '60s and for getting into modern world fusion styles. How to tune the sympathetic strings: The gauge of the sympathetic strings is .010. and a harp wrench is used for the tuning process. Traditional Tuning: The longest and lowest string is tuned an octave above the high E of a standard tuned guitar. From there the strings are tuned in half steps. This is just a starting point and experimentation can yield some beautiful sounds. Another great tuning is to use a "dropped D" tuning (dropping the 6th E string down a full step to D) on the guitar neck; then the sympathetic strings would be tuned to a D7sus chord as follows (longest string to shortest string):D - same note as 1st string of the guitar neck fretted at the 10th fret (the 1st string is tuned to standard E) F# - ascending G - ascending A - ascending C - ascending A - ascending G - ascending F# - ascending G - ascending A - ascending C - ascending D - ascending D - same as previous note
